SPRING CREEK ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Board was held on the 7th August, at 2 p.m. The members present were — Messrs G. Dodson (Chairman), Isaac Gifford, James Gane, and P. O'Dwyer. The minutes of last meeting were read and .confirmed. . A letter was read from the Returning Officer declaring Messrs P. O'Dwyer, Henry Dodson, and Isaac Clifford duly elected as members of the Board. ....,- Mr George Dodson was re-elected Chairman. Letters were read from the Blenheim Borough Council, acknowledging letter from Board re the appointment of their Chairman as one of the Hospital Managing Committee ; from Mr N. T. Prichard, complaining of the action of the Board iv taking a road through his property near Opawa river without first consulting him; from Mr Fairhall, offering the Board an accommodation road through Section 37 to the Opawa river; from Mr W. Murray, pointing out that the natural watercourse through Mr Ronowitz's , land was stopped up, thereby doing considerable injury to the road. On the consideration 'of the letters the Sicretary was instructed to acknowledge those from Messrs Prichard, Fairhall, and Murray, and send the following replies : — . To Mr Prichard, informing him that the land had been taken m order to provide a temporary road for the public m accordance with the ter::is of the " Public Works Act, 1876." To Mr Fairhall, intimating that should the Board require the road through section 37 they will at once, inform liim, when arrangements can be made as to terms, &c. To Mr Murray, expressing the regret of the Board at their inability to comply with his request, as they fail to see that the stoppage of the said watercourse caused injury to the road, and being of opinion that such a work could only be dealt with by a Drainage Board. The Chairman stated that he had appointed Mr William Robinson of Grove Town as impounder to the Board, and the Board confirmed the action of the. Chairman. On the application of the Inspector, the Board extended the time for the completion of Kelly's Bridge for two months, on account of the great depth of water there at present. The Inspector was instructed to give Mr Rush notice to remove the old stringer from the side of the Sandhill Road, otherwise the Board would do so at His expense.
