OMAKA ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held on Tuesday last. Present : . Messrs T. O'Sullivan (Chairman), A. Jackson, C. Redwood, Home, and Honldsworth. . The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman thanked the members of the Board for re-electing him as Chairman during his absence at the last meeting. He felt greatly honored by their confidence, which he hoped his past warranted, and his future would justify. inspector's reports. The Inspector reported that according to instructions he had examined the Alabama Road from Manse Creek to Redwood-street, and found that it was 80 chains m length, 22 chains had a ditch on both sides of the road with the dirt thrown m the centre, that portion required but little doing on it to make a very good foundation. The other portion, which ia about 58 chains, has a ditch along one side with the dirt thrown roughly on the road ; that portion will require forming 36 feet wide with water tables 15 inches 4«3p. •'; . : •■. ■ ■ . ■■'•.. - Also that he had examined Stephen-street from Redwood-street to Opawa-street, and there was about 16 chains which required forming very badly. , Audakothathehad examinedtheDillon's Point Road from the end of No 3 contract to Dr Home's gate, and found that it was 53 chains m length, 30 chains of which lies very low indeed, so much so that it will require ditching along each side of the road, and raising m the centre with the dirt thus obtained. The other, portion could be formed, which would greatly improve it. ALABAMA HO AD The Chairman moved— That the Inspector's report on the- Alabama road be amended, as follows /.—That 22 chains be formed instead' of 80 and 20 chains instead of 58* Mr Houldsworth seconded the motion, ' -which was carried. ■ ' STEPHEN STREET. . On the motion of the Chairman, seconded b/ Mr Redwood, it was agreed that the Inspector's report on Stephen-street be adopted. dillon's point road. The Chairman said that, looking over the expenditure m all parts of their district, he found , that some expenditure wa3 due to the portion under consideration, which paid, a fair proportion of rates, He wished jbo act impartially, and therefore mint say that the road was of considerable importance. The Chairman moved— That the Wairau Board be requested to finish their portion of the Cross Road from Renwick to the New Road. Mr Houldsworth seconded the motion. The Inspector said he hoped he was not out of order m stating that the Wairau Board was under the impression that that portion of the road was under the Omaka Road Board. After a few remarks, it* was agreed that the plan m the possession of the Omaka Road Board should be left m Blenheim, for reference when required. The Chatrman drew attention' to'the cuttings .on the Middle Road, and s ated that a very serious accident was near occurring there lately. He thought it would now be better to have the work done on this road by contract, instead of by day as before. He moved — That the cuttings on the Middle Road be widened, metalled, &c, by contract. Mr Redwood seconded, the motionVhich was carried. TENDERS. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Redwood, it was agreed that all tenders authorised at that meeting be called for forthwith—Messrs Honlds worth, Redwood and the mover to be a committee with power to accept the same.
