' i Dear Sib,— Can you inform mo whether themoney raised by 'the Antipodean Minstrels, ostensibly for the relief of the sufferers by the 5 ; Lyttelton Fire, has beertvdeyoted to that pur-’ pose. ~My. reasons for,,asking are simple-*!-having observed in the Express a balance sheet showing the amount realised by the en ertainment given previously to the Antipodean performance, and also an acknowledgment from the Secretary of the Relief Fund for the amount. Ft may perhaps be considered a piece of impertinence on my part to make the request, as possibly the Antiporleans do not wish to make public disply. of their charity, preferring to: bestow in secret that their reward may be; greater.
