FIRE! FIRE!! FIRE!!!
To the Editor of the Marlborough Express.
Bik, —At* there has been some talk of u watchman being appointed in Blenheim by the townspeople, don’t you think one of our police might not he on tdgbt duty, us there are three in Blenheim—one inspector, one sergeant, and one man; also, why there was not an enquiry about our worthy Sergeant’s chimney being on fire. 1 suppose because lie is a police-sergeant it. lias to be kept dark ; but I can assure you, had it been night-time, it would have shown a light, as there was two feet of flumes, hut of course he basso much to do lie cannot find time to sweep his chimney ; and I am told he keeps ammunition in the house, whicli 1 say is a disgrace to our Snpefintmidcnt to allow it, as this town has nearly been on fire several times, and if ever our public buildings get on fire, half the town will go. Yours, S.c., Pike Caution. Blenheim, September 10th, 18'iS.
