SOLDIERS’ GRIEVANCES.
DEPUTATION MEETS MINISTER. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, May 3. A denotation front die Returned Soldiers’ Association submitted grievances to 'Sir James Allen to-day. They asked that financial assistance be made retrospective. The Minister announced that the matter had been dealt with and it bod been decided to accept retrospective applications from men, whether before, or after discharge, who were serving abroad when the regulations granting financial assistance were gazetted in January, 1917, and who on return found accumulated liabilities. The deputation urged the propriety of giving appointments in die Uelence Department stall’ or otherwise to men who bad seen active service. Tho Minister said the object of repatriation was to place men back in permanent employment. This object would not be assisred by giving them appointments in the military forces, which would be only temporary.
