■M. Costyis a scientific curiosity. The moment he hears a spoken phrase he must tell ou the number of letters it contains. He asks no time for reflection and lie: says' it is not even necessary for him to think. Calculation is dono automatically. M. Costy cannot sleep for counting. His dreams are interminable columns of figures. His chiefs intend to submit his curious case to an expert.
