REGIMENT OF GODFATHERS.
KATSER'S INFANT GRANDSON. The Kaiser's grandson, tin; Hereditary Prince of Brunswick, was christened Ernest Augustus after his father, the Duke of Brunswick, on .May 10, following :m elaborate ceremonial in which the ,German Emperor and Empress and other members of the imperial Family took part. The infant's other names include Joseph and Nicholas. At the. christening banquet at the diual castle the Duke of Brunswick expressed the hope that his son and heir would grow up "a good and clever man. and some day take his place aiqong the other Sovereigns of the Empire as it genuimi (icnn.an prince." '.The Kaiser, responding, bespoke for his grandson a career as a ' "man of character, who when the time .comes will work with his fellow German princes for the growth of the power of th© German Fatherland and prove a firm support to our Protestant faith."
King George's gift to the infant was a gold cup with an inscribed cover (says Renter). A deputation of the officers and men of the Duke of Brunswick's, old regiment, the First Bavarian Heaw Dragoons, which is collectively gocffather to the infant, attended the christening.
