PIONEER CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Pioneer Football Club was held last night in Holland's buildings, when there was a large number of members and intending members present, the president, Mr Jas. Tinnoek, presiding. The annual report, as follows, was read by the secretary (Mr D. McDougall, jun): The committee has to congratulate the senior fifteen 011 winning the Eastern District premiership of 1912, having played 11 games, won 10 and drawn one, with 96 points for and six against. The committee has also to congratulate the second fifteen on being runners-up for the second-grade premiership. Had it not been for some misunderstanding and allowing the last game to go by default, they may possibly have also won. the premiership in this grade. The third fifteen, although not doing quite so Veil, got into third place, which is very good considering the teams they had to meet. Tlte committee has also to thank Mrs C. Collett for the handsome flag that she made and which was presented on her behalf bj- the Mayor (Mr D. L. Poppelwell) at the club's annual social. The club was represented by the following members in the Eastern District representative team during the_season at various times: —R. Todd, A. Gregory, Jno. Baldwin, F. O'Kane, Alf. Thomson, G. Keating, D. Tinnoek, E. Lister and D. McDougall. During the season two promising young players, namely, I. Gilder and K. Boswell, have left Gore. Since the season our valued coach (Mr Jno. Mitchell) has gone away from Gore and we shall find a great difficulty in replacing him. He was also our representative 011 the Eagtern District Sub-Union. The balance-sheet shows receipts £2l 4s and expenditure £l9 18s 6d, leaving a credit balance of £1 5s 6d, which must be considered satisfactory considering that the subscription is small, and that the club paid for the training-room out of the funds. The committee has also to thank Mr Jno. Day for donating £1 to the funds, on account of the seniors winning the premiership. Thanks are also due to the captain (Mr M. Green) for donating the proceeds of the sale of boxing gloves to the funds. The outgoing committee would suggest to the club that the annual subscription be raised sufficient to enable a training room, to be engaged two nights a week, as it "is considered necessary to ha ve a room to train in, if the club wishes to retain the high position gained last' year. The prospects for the incoming season are good, as all last season's seniors are here, and will no doubt be available again, and we have some promising juniors, while new players have stated their intention of playing for tiio club.

Mr J. Day, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, congratulated the club on its excellent record during the past season. Mr T. Keating seconded the motion, stating that though he had played football for many years, it was the first time he had had the honor of playing for a team that had won the premiership. The motion was submitted and carried unanimously. The following office-bearers were c-lecte.l for the ensuing season: —President, Mr'-J. Day; vice-presidents, Dr iic.llroy, and Messrs Jas. McMurtrie, T. ;T. Turnbull, A. Donaldson, T. Sherborne, jun., W. Cox, J. A. Paterson, A. Simpson. D. McDougall, sen., D. and James Tinnock; secretary and treasurer, MrD. McDougall, jun ; ; committee, Messrs E. Lister, W. O'Kane, D. Dinnock, 0. Collett, A. Gregory, Jas. Tinnock, A. Thompson; Selection Committee (first fifteen), coach, captain and deputy-captain, (second, and third fifteens) coach, Mr \V. McLay, captain and deputy-captain; coach, Mr Jas. Tinnock; captain first fifteen, Mr Milton Green (re-elected); deputy-captain, Mr J. Baldwin; delegates to sub-union, Messrs W. McLay and Jas. Tinnock.

The subscription for the season was fixed as follows: —Seniors 4s, secondgrade 2s 6d, third-grade Is. It was decided to open the season on the second Wednesday in April. Monday and Friday nights were fixed as trainmg nights, and it was left in the secretary's hands to make arrangements for a training-room. It was decided to send a team to Timaru at Easter to play the Timaru Pirates Club. Mr T. Keating was unanimously elected captain and manago/.

On the motion of Mr J. Baldwin, a motion was passed expressing the club's sympathy with Mr and Mrs Sherborne in the death of their son Alfred, who was at one time nn active playing member of the club, and it was decided that a letter be drafted by the president and secretary and forwarded to them.

Mr S. McDougall was appointed to act in the Referees' Association, and a very enthusiastic meeting concluded with votes of thanks to the retiring president (Mr Jas. Tinnock), last year's coach (Mr J. Mitchell) and the chair
