At the Supremo Court, Invercargill, yesterday, Sir Joshua Williams, on the motion of Mr C. S. Longuet, granted an order in terms of an arrangement entered into between Mr Longuet as solicitor for the executor in the estate of the late William Moffett and Mr Rattray on behalf of the nlaintiff, John Moffett. As evidence of the difficulty of obtaining! contractors and horse labor it may be mentioned that for last Wednesday's meeting of the Southland County Council, no less than 52 tenders for works were advertised for and in response only 16 were received, several of them not being accepted. One reason assigned is that many of the contractors are also small farmers, and owing to the backward season they are busy on their farms.

We are in receipt of a special supplement of the 'Oamaru Mail' which has just been issued in connection with the jubilee show of the North Otago A. and P. Association. The production is a very comprehensive one, showing the vast strides that have been made in the fertile Oamaru district in the period extending over the last 50 years. A glance at the record of the society proves what a vast amount it has done towards the promotion of a better class of stock, and the reading of this alone considerably enhances the value of the publication. A feature of the supplement is the illustrations, which show photographs of many of the stock for which the Oamaru district is famous.
