HOME RULE FOR IRELAND.

VOTES FOR WOMEN. BT ELECTRIC /ELEGRAPH. —COPYRIGHT. PUR UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. Received November 6, 11 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 5. The Home Rule Bill was further considered in the House of Commons. Mr Philip Snowden (Labor member for Blackburn) moved that votes should be given to the women of Ireland on the basis of the local Government register. Mr John Redmond (leader of the Nationalist Party) urged that the matter should be left to the Irish Parliament.

Mr A. J. Balfour (ex-leader of the Opposition) and Mr Ramsay Mac Donald (leader of the Labor Party) supported the amendment.

Hon. H. H. Asquith (Prime Minister) replied that there was 110 precedent for conferring the franchise on women in connection ■with the grant of self-gov-ernment to a 'dominion, and he reechoed Mr Redmond's opinion. The amendment was defeated by 314 votes to J4l.
