SIEGE OF TWO NUNS.

A farcical scene occurred the other day at Bedene (Brittany), whither the Quimperlo authorities proceeded in solemn state to carry out the dissolution of a "religious establishment illegally reconstituted sinoe the Separation Law." The 'establishment" consisted of two nuns, one of whom refused to reply to any of the magistrate's questions, while the other barricaded herself in a room. On the arrival of tho authorities, with a force of gendarmes, the vicar ordered the church bell to be rung and a hundred women assembled in great excitement. Alea-nwhile a locksmith had been sent for to open the door of the room where the nun had taken refuge. As soon as he opened the door the nun, according to the 'Temps,' hit him on tho head v.'ith a stick. Finally, by threatening to make wholesale arrests, the authorities vindicated the majesty of the law and closed the illegal "establishment."
