THE BATHS FUND.
TO THE EDITOR. j Sir, —With your kind permission and i through the medium of your valuable j paper I would like to say a few words j to the young men of Gore. We have | among us here a class of young men j who, as athletes, I am convinced, would not be prepared to play second fiddle to the young men of any other town in the Dominion. Xam with the young men all the time and I would just like to mention this fact: Our baths for Gore are hanging, fire for the sake of some £4O, and when this amount is subscribed the contract will be let and the baths constructed at once. What are the baths being constructed for? Our boys. Who will get the most benefit and fun out of them ? Our boys. I say now that if our young men were each to subscribe a little the contract would be let next week and there would be lots of fun in the baths before this summer is over. We do not expect five guineas from any of our young men, but if they were to give, say, five shillings each, they would not be any worse off next Christmas. Now, young men, I know you will like to help a little and prove that our boys are "sports." Hand a small donation to the town clerk and I can assure you that he will receive it with thanks.— I am, etc., A SPORT OF THE PAST.
