A movement is in progress for the early fusion of the London General Omnibus Company, the London Electric Railways, and the Metropolitan District Railway, the capital involved aggregating £33,000,000. A new company is being formed to control the combination. MALT KILN COLLAPSES. PARIS, Nov. 2. The collapse of a malt kiln which was being constructed killed 34 and injured 20 people DOMINION AND TREATIES. LONDON, Nov. 2. In. the House of Commons Sir. Edward Grey (Foreign Secretary) announced that the Government was approaching Argentina, Columbia, Denmark, France, Mexico, Morocco, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and Venezuela with a view to amending- treaties in the interest of the self-governing colonies, as Mr ; Acland (Under-Secre-tary for Foreign Affairs) yesterday explained. FALSE TRADE DESCRIPTIONS. LONDON, Nov. 2. The Board of Agriculture, in response to Sir J. W. Taverner's (Agent-Gen-eral for Victoria) representation regarding the use of false trade descriptions in regard to colonial butter, declared that it is prepared to inquire into specific cases with a view to proceedings under the Merchandise Marks Act. NEW SOUTH WALES BUDGET. SYDNEY, Nov. 2. In the Legislative Assembly Mr McGowen (Treasurer) is delivering his Budget. The chief feature is proposed new taxation, whereby he expects to receive £200,000 from probate and stamp duties and £775,000 from income tax. The total revenue last year was £13,882,485, which is £475,224 in excess of the estimate. The expenditure was £14,470,637, or £169,000 in excess of the estimate. The year opened with a credit of £989,706 and closed with a credit of £401,505. The public debt is £95,523,945, an increase for the year of £2,998,830. The total trade of the State amounts to £86,000,000, an increase of £6,000,000 on that of the previous year. The total production was £62,812,000. The wheat yield was 28,000,000 bushels. The estimated revenue for the current year, including new taxation, is £15,846,085 and the expenditure £15,822,844. IN DEFENCE OF HIS MOTHER. SYDNEY, Nov. 2. A farmer named Broderick has died at Goulburn of a gunshot wound and his son has been arrested on a charge of causing his death. Broderick was drunk and was assaulting his wife when the son interposed. Broderick in his dying depositions! stated that his son fired in self-defence.
