A PLUCKY WOMAN.
A plucky woman's encounter with a 'burglar, who was armed with a heavy jemmy, was described at Birmingham -the other day, when a man named Letv- ' "-non was charged with burglary at a public house. x The man was found upstairs rifling the servant's bedroom. The landlady, Mrs Brown, barred the passage door to prevent his escape. He threatened her -with' one "jemmy, saying, "Let me go .or T will 'do you in/" Mrs Brown replied, "You will have to 'do me in' 'before I will let you go." Lennon struck at her with the jemmy, hitting hereon the arm, but she seized him by the throat and held him until assistance .came. Lennon was' seirtenced to *hree months' hard laborI ■" S 4 ■
