The Pacific Coast Steamship Company's steamer Cottage City, bound from Seattle to Skagway, grounded on Cape Mudge, in British Columbia, in a blinding snowstorm. The passengers escaped in boats, but the vessel sank. The passengers were landed at the lighthouse. One boatload is missing, and it is feared that they have met with disaster. STEAMER ASHORE. THE PASSENGERS SAFE. Received January 28, 8.10 a.m. OTTAWA, Jan. 27. The Canadian Pacific Railway Company's steamer Tees is ashore at Barclay Sound (Vancouver Island). The passengers have been rescued. THE STRANDED EASTERN. Received January 28, 9.40 a.m. BRISBANE, Jan. 28. Another unsuccessful attempt has been madei to refloat the steamer Eastern, which is ashore on the Salamander Bank. Her position is now more serious, and the passengers are landing and proceeding on their journey by train. Tons of rice have been jettisoned.
