BENEFITS OF YAWNING.
* Dr. Emit Bunzl, of Vienna, Austria, in speaking of diseases of the throat hnd remedies, said that yawning had its great value. Yawning had recent'y bet.n recorr mended independently as a valuable exercise tor the respiratory organs. "According to Dr Naegli. of the University of Leuttich," said Dr. Bunzl, "yawning brings all the respiratory muscles of the chest and throat into action and is therefore the best and most natural means of strengthen ng ch;m. He advises everybody to yawn as deeply as possible, with arms outstreched. in order to change completely the air in the lungs and stimulate respiration. In many cases he has found the practice to relieve the difficulty in swallowing and disturbance of the sen>so of healing that accompany catarrh <r the throat. The patient is induced to yawn through suggestion, in imitation of a preliminary exercise in deep breathing.
