THE JEWELLERY CASE. Received March 18, 8.45 a.m. LONDON, .March 17. Ferdinand Eggena and La Milo (the well-known music hall artiste) have xvii committed for trial on the charge if obtaining jewellery by means of .al.se pretences. Cross-examination of witnesses suggests that the defence will be that irisoners obtained the jewels which torm the subject of the charge against hem for the purpose of selling them -o the King of Portugal's suite during lis recent visit to Ixuulou. La Milo, Ferdinand Eggena (her liusia:id) and Percy Easton (a motor igent) were charged at the Bow Street Police Court with obtaining jewels to lie value of £7OOO sterling by means of .'also pretences from Mr Wood, jeweller, of Brook street, l<ondon. It was ill-'ged that Eggena represented hini;elf as the owner of i! 5 cars, obtained 'lie jewels, and afterwards pawned hem on La Milo's behalf. Eggena had, t is alleged, previously attempted to i>awn a jiearl necklace worth £30,000.
