1 FOOTBALL.

PIONEEIt (.'LIB. The fourth annual meeting oi the Pioneer Football Club was held iu Mr Latham's Rooms last, night, fully forty being present. Mr G. O'Neill tl'rcsident) occupied the chair. The annual report stated that the position of the Club was very, satisfactory as regards finance, but us regards the playing of the teams it could not be claimed to have improved on' previous years, owing to several players leaving the district alter the season had commenced.. Tho first, fifteen had held their own in the first round of the district fixtures, but fell away iu the second round. Tho second fifteen sutler*! to a great extent through the iirst lil teen drawing on their players. The third lil teen did not ' win in their grade, but they won the se\eii-u-side tournament at Gore. Tho first fifteen playi'd two friendly matches during the season, ono at Milton and one at Tapauui. They were defeated at Atiltoti, and drew at Tapanui. The balance-sheet showed credits to the extent oi £2l Os Bd, and expenditure £7 8s 6d, leaving a balance of £lci 18s 2d, very satisfactory lo the (.'lull and its members. The Club desired to thank the Farmers' t'o-opt'i'ative Association for the use of their building as a traiuHng shed, and also the ollici'-bearers for their past support. The hope was expressed that the Club would be more successful during the forthcoming season, and again hold the premiership.

The Chairman, in moving the adopiion of the report and balance-sheet said the position was very satisfactory. The matter of insurance had been deferred last season, pending the decision of the Sub-l'nioii. but all the same the members had paid into a fund which was included in the general fund. lie urged them to still go on paying into the insurance fund. If tin; Sub-Union were going to insure them, the money paid into the (Tub fund would be returned. The motion was seconded b v Mr I'. AUljcod, and . carried.

Ferris and T. Turnbull; captain. Mr A. O'Kane; deputy-captain. Mr A. Beattie; delegates to the lOastt'i'ii District Subl.'nion. Messrs G. O'Xeill and D. Mcliougall; junior captain. Mr J. Wingham; deputy-cuptuin, 31r P. McLeod: third grade captain, Mr T. O'NeiJl; (t.'puty-captain, Mr I. Gilder; senior team selection committee, captain and deputy-captain, and Mr J. Baldwin ; second team selection committee, captain, deputy-captain and captain of senior team; third grade selection committee, captain, deputy-captain and captain of second team.

Nine new members were elected. The subscription was fixed at 2s lid fin' seniors and 1s lid for juniors, The matter of appointing a coach to the Club was held over. It was decided to plav the Tokoniirin. Club at (lore on (Joed Friday.
