GORE TROTTING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. Very satisfactory entries have been received lor the Gore Trotting Club's meeting on February 14, the number being three more than last year—--101!, as against 9i). The proximity of the meeting to the trots at Taiiuna Park 110 iloubt affected the entry to an extent, but an average of II for each event cannot be deemed other Llian satisfactory. The Lady's Bracelet Handicap has shown its popularity among owners, there being an entry of 27 for this event. The Mile Cup is also well patronised, there being 14 entrants, including such liiers as Strathmore, Fichu, Lexey, and Explanation. The Novice and Final handicaps have drawn capiLal entries, but the number in the Two Mile big handicap is unaccountably small, only eight being nominated. A meeting of the committee of the Uore Trotting Club was held on Fri- 1 clay night to make arrangements for Uiu meeting. It was decided to engage Messrs James Bros.' totalisatiir, and to pay out iirst and second dividends in races with six or more starters. 'Die oltcr of Mr lvretzer, private detective, to attend the meeting was accepted. It was decided to rigidly enforce the rule against horses doing their preliminaries the wrong way on the track. Messrs Barron, Ureen. T. Teller, A. Gardiner, and U Martin were appointed patrol stewards. The tender of Mrs i-lcatsun for the right to supply refreshments was accepted. It was resolved to call tenders from the two local newspapers for the race cards.
