THE CONCERT.
The usual concert, held at Adams' Hall in the evening, attracted a holiday audieuce of large dimensions, and the funds of the Society should benefit to the extent of about £15 thereby. Art orchestra under Mr Mayo, comprising Mrs Godby (piano), Mr Mayo, (first violin), Mr H. Dolamore, jun. .(second violin), Mr J. Henry, (cornet), and Mr D." Taylor (clarinet), supplied overtures (" Poot and Peasant" and .-' The Caliph of Bagdad ") to either part of the programme. -Mrs Blue (Invercargill) sang " Scotland Yet," and, in response to an, encore; "I Couldn't, Could I?" This accomplished vocalist, was also recalled tor her rendering of " Willies gaun to Nelvis Castle," responding with '.' No, Sir.' 1 Mr E. D. Cameron was encored for," The Skipper," and gave " Gae bring tae me a pint o' wine." Mr Mayo played " The British Grenadiers " as a euphonium solo. Miss Cameron- and Mr A. Clark' were encored • for the duet " Life's, dream is o'er." The lady singers in the second part of the programme were Misses' Mackay and Cameron, . both ' being enthusiastically recalled. Mr R. L. Christie's wtiistling song and, Mr Evison's negro stump speech supplied the necessary comic' element to a uniformly enjoyable entertainment. The accompaniments were/ played, by, Meidaraes. G c odby. and Mackay.. After the , concert a dance was held and -continued to' "an early hour this morning,' the 'music being supplied by Mrs Godby, Messrs- Mayo r Henry - and Taylor. •**.•- --.
