OUR VOLUNTEERS.

GORE RIFLES. The Gore Rifles fired the fourth CDmpetition for the Hallenstein Cup yesterday afternoon, when the weather was just a trifle too hot to make things pleasant. from a shooting point of view. The conditions were seven shots each aj 200 and 300 yards. There were 22 competitors. The following are the principal scores : —

Leading aggregates are— Priv. France, 170 ; Priv. G. McKenzie, 167 ; Sgt. Shanks, 166 ; Pr!v. Ayson, 163; Piiv. Kelly, 159; Lieut. Domigan, 157; Priv. Turnbull, 155; Lieut! Fraser, 155 ; Priv. Martin, 154 ; and Priv. W. McKenzie, 153. Leading aggregates for Bronze Medal are — Sgt. Shanks, l(i(j ; Priv. G. McKenzie, 163 ; Priv. Ayson, 161 ; and Lieut. Domigin, 157. The next match will be fired on the second Wednesday in January Ranges, 300 and 560 yards.

At the conclusion of the inspection of the Gore Rifle, on Tuesday night lust, S^'.Shanks, ou behalf of the members of the Gore Rifles, presented Sgt. Smith with a handsome album and cruet on the occasion of his marriage, and iv a few remarks wished him and his bride long life, health, happiness and prosperity in the future. Sgt. Smith suitably responded.
