ELECTION HUMOR.
JOCULARITY AT A POLITICAL MEETING. Mr McNab's meeting in Gore on Thursday evening was productive, of numerous diversions which helped materially to lighten the, tedium of the proceedings. 0 ne questioner referred to special favor being shown to Liberals, whereupon someone else in the audience challenged him with being one of that cult, which soft impeachment he indignantly denied, saying: " No, I never was a Liberal, thanks be to God I" Another gentleman wished to know why, if a man had sixpence, was thirsty, and went into a public house five minutes past ton to spend that coin, he should be placed in the same category as murderers and other criminals of that ilk. The same gentleman, regarding Mr McNab with a paternal eye, remarked at a later stage, amid roars of laughter : " You know he's one of our boys, and we are sorry he is so erratic." Painfully frank was another questioner; who asked if Mr McNab would do a certain thing if elected, stating parenthetically, " I sincerely hope he won't be." Discussing the marine scandal Mr McNab said if they drew upon their knowledge they would all recall abuses in examination rooms other than tnose under the Marine Department, to which a quick-witted individual in the assemblage retorted : "That accounts for there being so many lawyers." The six members of the legal profession present (including the speaker of the evening) were heard to blush in a loud tone of voice. One of gems of the proceedings was the oracular deliverance of the seconder of the vote of thanks and confidence to the candidate, who ventured, in a highly laudatory little speech, to say of Mr McNab: "Whatever he is, he is." Whereat the audience applauded vociferously.
