WAIKAKA.
The Warden waß up the other day viewing that portion of Logan's estate recently acquired by Mr J. Paterson and kitowa to be anriferious. Miners and others interested in the advance of the townthipare very anxious to see the ground open to the public as it is believed to contain some rich runs of gold. The Warden's visit; induced some to think that the matter was quite settled, and they next morning pegged off claims on what was supposed to be the lead. The rush was premature,, however, as nothing can be done until the 'miners themselves convince the department that they really want the ground. The Riflo Club had their first practice last week when a large number of members turned up. The shooting done was indicative of some good scoring in the f attire. On examination day there were present at Waikaka school 53 scholars out of 54 on the roll. N Arer&ge attendance for last quarter, 46.
