A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jackson, a well-known stock-broker, of Newcastle, on a charge of an extensive forgery of bills to the amount of several thousand pound. It is stated that Jackson had large betting transactions with Holt, the ox-bankc r, and being _iard pressed by tuo latter for payment, forged the bills in order to stave off the crasl which would have followed his being posted as a defaulter. Jackson is supposed to have gone to Manila, the capital of the Spanish settlement in the Fhillippiue Islands For the present the Lands Department will be under the control of the Premier.
