Received July 11, 10.30 p.m. Melbourne, June 11. Arthur Daley, solicitor, charged with forging signatures to land transfer applications has been acquitted.
Brisbane, July 11. Government have announced that they intend to pursue a vigorous public works policy. Received Ji ly 12, 1.35 a.m. Sydney, July 11. His Excellency the Governor has assented to the Chinese Restriction Bill without prejudice to Queen’s right to disallow tho Bill. Melbourne, July 11. The Hon Thomas Bent, leader of tho Opposition met with an accident while entering his house last evening. He slipped and his head struck a plank. The accident resulted iu concussion of the brain but he is improving to-day. His motion of want-of-confidenco lapsed and the Address-in-Reply was carried on the voices.
