A Queer Kind of Punishment.
(Per Press Association.) Avcklaot, August 9. A little girl named Agues Gilstcd, who had been adopted by a Mrs Vincent at Hamilton, was found roaming about the country there a few days ago, with a dog chain fastened by a padlock round her waist. She had called at the houses of several Settlers pleading for food. She states she was fastened up to a tree, and managed to escape. The police have the. matter in hand. >
