ARMY COMMISSIONS FOR COLONIALS. Wellington, Nor. 22. The Government have received from the Secietary of State for the Colonies regulations under which commissions in the British Army may be obtained ’by officers of Colonial Local Military forces. Every candidate will require to have served at least fifteen months as officer in the local military force of the Colony from which he is nominated, and most have attended two annual trainings, or have seen active service in the field. The candidate must bo between the age* of 17 and 22 on the Ist of January of the yew in which he is allowed to present himielf for examination. Intending candidates will be required to undergo inspection by a medical board,and will not beallowed to proceed with his examination unless physically qualified for commission in the Army. The candidate will s|io be’required to prove he is of good moral character. The regulations go on to detail the examination under which the candidate must qualify. Two army com* missions will be allotted to each of the undermentioned colonies annually : New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, New Zealand, Queensland, Cape of Good Hope. Candidates’ papers after being completed will be returned to the DirectorGeneral of Military Education, War Office, London, for adjudication. The Governor in the Colony is to notify the War Office cf the number of qualified candidates, and in the event of the number exceeding the number of commission*, the selection will be decided by competition in military examination.
