ARRIVAL OF THE PRISONERS IN AUCKLAND. (united press association) Auckland Oct. 27. The steamer Waihora, having on board Caffrey, Penn, and the girl Graham, charged as murderers and accessory to the Great Barrier tragedy, arrived at one o’clock this morning. There was a considerable crowd on the wharf, including Penn’s father, who shouted to the prisoner. “Never mind,my boy, we’ve got Napier to defend you ” Hoodlums in the crowd applauded Penn, who manifested a bold, dtifant, and jauuty air, while Caffrey seemed cowed and spiritless. Tbe male prisoners were heavily manacled,leg irons being rivetted od. On tbe voyage Caffrey and Penn were very quiet, and were ocasionally allowed to have their hand-cuffs off, when they piayeu euchre with great enjoyment. The girl Graham alleges that Penn did not hold Taylor while Caffrey fired the revolver, She states that Caffrey drank a whole bottle of rum before going ashore at the Great Barrier, and attributes the murder to his being drunk.

Gaffrey,Penn,and Sarah,Cleary, alias Grace Graham, were brought up at the Police Court, the two former charged with the wilful murder of Robert Taylor, and the SI with being an accessory after the fact. * Napier appi jed to have j,he girl Cleary released, but the Bench deeffned. All three prisoners were remanded till Friday week. Mr Brassey, on behalf of Taylor and family, has laid a separate information far murder, which may cause a complication.
