THE HUSSAR ENCAMPMENT.

MILITARY SPORTS. Committee Captain Dodson, Lieu's. Collett, Clark, Sergt-Major Hutcheson, Sergts Hathaway and Maxted. Judge.—H. Dodson E*q., M.H.Ii. Stabter.—Sergt-Major Hutcheson. The Hussars concluded their six days drill on Saturday last with an afternoon’s racing and sports in Draper’s piddock, the scene of the encampment. There was an exceedingly large attendance of the publicconsidering the unfavorable weather. About mid-day, and for an hour or two afcerwards, rain fell heavily, the first three events being contested in almost blinding showers. Thediff-rent events weie all well contested and, notwithstanding the raio, a most enjoyable afternoon was speDt. The borseracing was of tlse very best kind, and both the hurdl- s and the flat race were fast races. The high jumping was one of the features of the day’s sp>rti and created much interest and excitement. Mr Dodson, as judge, it is neel'ess to say, gave every sa'isfact on, whilst Hutcheson was übiquitous, and indefatigable in the form »nce of his duties, which seemed to be at once multifarious and multitudinous It is worthy of note tint, whilst several of the events were open to the public, the Hussars managed to carry off everything. Murphy’s Regina .. 2 Sixteen entered for this event, which was very closely contested, the finish between the two placed horses being most; exciting.
