(REUTER'S TELEGRAMS). Sydney, Oct 20. It is announced that Mr Sutter, Postmaster-General, ha. made a counter proposal to the New Zealand Government in reference to the increase of cable rates, but the nature of the communication has not yet transpired. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, Oct 20. A tel*gram received fiom Mr Sutter by the Postmaster-General is to the effect that the Government of New South Wales will aid in resisting any increase in the present cable tariff but strongly urge the New Zealand Government to grant a subsidy on condition that the ra’e is lowered to 5s per ten words for general messages and 3d a word for press telegrams. No further communications have been received from the Cable Company.
