BOROUGH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The ordinary monthly meeting of thi§ Committee was held last night, Present, Messrs Healy (chairman), Parker, Birch, Falconer, and .Renfrew. After the formal bjsiness had been disposed of COKRESI'OUDENCK was read as follows .—prom R. IV}. (larding stating that Miss Harding v/as so i’l( that she 'would bo unable to resume her duties for somo time and applying for two months’ leave of absence. This letter was accompamed by a radical certificate signed by Drs Porter arjd Logie, prom Mr J. B. Lucas setting foreH that the vacancy on the'pupil teaching staff, caused by’ the yempval of My Simpspu frpnp tpe Jpfant Department, was still unfilled, wad asking the OQiyim'ttee to forward hie letter to the Education Board, From Miss Mary Bary applying for a bonus for work done during the absence of the recoiid master, and from Mr Lucas r-c mmending that the applies* ion shoul 1 be granted. Mr Renfrew moved sis 5.0 amendment that ob: weeks' leave of absence be granted if bin this date, Without fealary. 1 Mr Parker thought the Committee had nothing to do with-th# qi#|tion ofj salary
that waa a ma'ter entirely for the Board to consider. All the Committee had to do was to grant, or refuse the application. Tho amendment was then put and lost; Aye—Mr Renfrew : Noes—Messrs Healy, Birch, Falconer, and Parker. The mo'ion was agreed to, Mr Renfrew dissenting. Mr Parker moved that Mr Lucaa be requested to fill the vncaucy caused by Miss Harding’s absence. Agreed to. I’UI'IL TEACHER. Mr Renfrew moved that Miss Logan be recommended for the appointment of pupil teacher, vacant by the removal of Mr Simpson from the Infant Department. Agreed to. miss carry's application. Mr Parker moved that Miss Barry’* letter be forwarded to the Board. Agreed 10. THE CARETAKER. It was agreed, upon the motion of Mr Birch, that the caretaker should be granted a bonus (to bring his pay up to three shillings a week) in consideration of the satisfactory manner in which he was performing his duties ; to date from Ist September. Agreed to. AN EAGLE EYE. Mr Parker drew attention to the fact that there was no average attendance roll before the meeting. It was resolved that the head-maßter be notified of tho omitsion. ACCOUNTS. The following accounts were passed for payment ; —S. Chandler, cltauiog and attendance, L 5 Is 6d ; F. 0. Parker, clerical work in connection with the HardingLucas enquiry, L 8 ; J. Wooster, LI 16s ; F. C. Litchfield, 5s fid ; Fell Bros, 9s 6d. This was all the business.
