The Matamata Record (Published Monday and Thursday) MONDAY, AUGUST 2, 1937. Brief Mention

Bobby calves have been realising 103 per head all round for Jerseys in the Matamata district during the past few days. Arising out of the Cucksey Cup match at Cambridge on Saturday, July 24, the Cambridge Union decided at their weekly meeting to write to the Matamata Union for a “ complete set of the rules, signed and dated.” The two youths, Thomas Fleming, aged 14, and Noel Mahoney, aged 17, who were reported missing from Auckland more than a week ago, have been located by Constable Moore working on farms in the Matamata district. A . combined church parade consisting of members of the Matamata lodges and the Fire Brigade, which was held at All Saints’ Church, Matamata, was very well attended. The Matamata Citizens’ Band played the music for the hymns, and the choir rendered- the. anthem, “ 0, Taste and See.” An appropriate address was given by the Rev. G. !F. W. Oulds. Mr. D. B. Higgins, of Springs road, Matamata, has sold his farm as a going ,concern to Mr. Moisin, of Lepperton, and gives up possession oh August 20. Mr. Higgins, who for a number of years was president of the Matamata Farmers’ Union, and is now a member of the Auckland executive, has not as yet made any plans for the future.
