Tirau.
FAREWELL FUNCTION A social and dance was held on Monday evening in the W.D.F.U. Rest Room to farewell Miss C. A. Maegregor, who has bee*, transferred from the teaching staff of the Tirau school to Campbell’s Bay, Auckland. Miss Maegregor has been at the Tirau school for over three years and has proved herself a wonderful teacher and is liked by all the children. Miss Maegregor was also a member of the Tirau Tennis Club and the Tirau Golf Club. She was also an energetic worker in the Girl Guide and Brownie movement.
Mr. S. J. Bear presented Miss Maegregor with a handsome travelling rug and expressed, on behalf of the Tirau people, deep regret at losing Miss Maegregor. Miss Maegregor replied thanking the Tirau people very much for the evening, and the pleasant times she had received while in Tirau. / Miss Maegregor was accorded musical honours.
Songs were rendered by Mesdames J. Corcoran and S. J. Bear and Mr. Jesse Batley. Music for dancing was supplied by Mr. and Mrs. A. Bragg and Mrs. J. Corcoran. Mrs. Corcoran also acted as accompanist. Mr. A. Bragg was M.C. The guest of the evening wore a frock of floral crepe de chine. Others present were: Mesdames R. Har-
vey, A. J. Neville, A. Bragg, W. Craig, A. Snowling, W. Goodwin, M. . H. Brown, G. Wilson, S. Brownlie, J. Corcoran, R. Naysmith, J. Keane, S. J. Bear, N. Horscroft, J. Batley, T. Marshall, R. Goble. Misses M. Dfgg, E. Baker, J. Houghton, E. Clarke, A. Goodwin, O ’Brien and R. Brown. A competition held was won by Mrs. S. J. Bear. The evening concluded with the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne.”
