FAREWELL EVENING

Miss J. E. McCardle Prior to her departure from Matamata Miss J. E. McCardle was accorded a farewell evening- in the Kensington by a number of her friends. A happy evening was spent in dancing and social chat, and during the evening Miss McCardle, who had played a leading part in social affairs of the town during the past six years, was the recipient of many expressions of goodwill and best wishes for her future.

After supper Mr. W. S. Clinch, on behalf of those present, handed to Miss McCardle a handsome wristlet watch as a token of regard. Mr. Clinch referred to Miss McCardle’s many estimable qualities and social gifts and wished her every success in the future. A beautiful bouquet was presented by Mrs. Clinch. Musical honours were accorded.

In a neat reply Miss McCardle returned thanks for the unexpected , pleasure and gift.
