UNDER C.O.R. TEST That the Morrinsville district posses pedigree Jersey cattle equal to the best of other dairying districts is demonstrated by this season’s C.O.R. testing returns. Mr. J. J. Gocdwin’s Four-year-olds
Figures for August and September testing periods show that in the four-year-old class Mr. J. J. Goodwin, of Restholme, Taukoro road, Morrinsville, has two outstanding cows, Restholme Daisy and Restholme Dainty. In the September merit list of the New Zealand Jersey Breeders’ Association, Ivestholme Daisy repeated her previous month’s performance by leading the class with 72.981 b of fat. For August she was top with 73.311 b of fat.
Restholme Daisy already has an O.H.T. record at under two years of 492.931 b of fat under herd conditions. She is by the heavily-backed butterfat bull, Vive La France’s Last Son (imp.) from Restholme Agnes, C.0.R., 440.701 b of fat at one year 295 days, grand-daughter of Grannie’s Knight, C.8:8., and of Jersey Bank Treasure, Cife.R., 7171 b of fat. Restholme Daisy has made an excellent start and her further progress will be watched with interest.
The third heifer on the September merit list was Restholme Dainty, 67.921 bof fat. Her sire, the Southee bred bull, Koro Koro Golden Cup, is by the old champion, Miro Meadows Maori Boy, while her dam, Wainui Finery, is by Clarion (imp.), C. 8.8., from Fidele of Rosy Creek. Mr. C. Third on the senior two-year-old merit list for August was Mr. C. S. Leggett’s Poneke Best with 56.841 b of fat. In September this heifer gave 46.921 b of fat, and had a total of 140.411 b of fat in S 3 days.
