PONIES AT THE SHOW
ENCOURAGING THE CHILDREN Realising that the pony riders of to-day will be the horsemen of to- . morrow, the Morrinsville A. and P. Society is making special efforts to attract iriore entries in the pony "''classes at the 1936 show, and new Classes have been added to the r schedule. At a meeting of the show committee recently Mr. J. H. Gaddes urged that consideration be given to ways and means of getting school ponies in from country schools to the show. There were plenty of ponies at such schools as i Tahuna, Kercone and Tahuroa, but the distance from Momnsville kept many children and puahte away. One suggestion was that the events be made post entry, as was done at Hamilton and Cambridge, and another that lorries be made available to transport the ponies to the show. These matters were referred to the pony steward? for an opinion. Mr/Gaddes suggested that with a view to inducing more entries of ponies the stewards consider giving a badge, certificate or some other gift to all children exhibiting ponies at the show. A motion to this effect was seconded by Mr. J. T. Robinson and approved.
