Okauia.

Popular Social Held. Another very enjoyable weekly social was held in the Okauia Hall on Saturday evening. A large gathering of about 60 people were present, all of whom indulged in games, which took the form of ping-pong, cards, quoits, etc., and which are as popular as ever. After supper the “ surprise item,” which had roused much curiosity, was given by “ The Coon Band,” consisting of six instrumentalists and conductor. The band created much amusement. Two nigger recitations were given by “ Mammy Liza,” dressed in appropriate costume. The remainder of the evening was devoted to dancing, music for which was provided by “ The Coon Band,” an accordeon and piano.
