ILLEGAL ELECTRIC WIRING.
WARNING TO CONSUMERS.
Power Board to Prosecute.
“ Many consumers do not appear to be aware that it is against the board’s conditions of supply to run a light off of an ironing point,” remarked the manager when the Thames Valley Power Board was considering a report that a case of this form of illegal wiring had been detected by the board’s inspector. The consumer concerned had claimed that he did not know he was doing anything illegal. The inspector asked what the board intended to do. The chairman: I do not think we can make fish of one and flesh of another. We should take action and ask for an explanation. Messrs. Allen and Flatt agreed that this consumer should be prosecuted.
Mr. Corbett: The trouble is that you can buy attachments to connect lights to plugs. Mr. Flatt: I think he should be prosecuted as a warning to others, but we should not press for a heavy penalty. It was decided to prosecute this consumer.
