CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

SOCIAL FUNCTION. The social evening organised by the Matamata Chamber of Commerce, which took the form of a picture party and dance, proved the most pleasant function of the year. The Kensington provided a smart scene while dancing was in progress, and despite numerous other counter attractions, the attendance was a strikingly representative one. Mrs. H. E. Schofield, the hostess, wore a becoming frock of black georgette, with coatee of black georgette and chiffon velvet. Those present were: Mesdames B. C. Taylor, lido blue crepe suede; G. G. Bell, chicory brown georgette and lace; C. Ingram, azure blue flowered ninon . and embossed lame bridge coat; G. G. Griffiths, jet satin beaute and coatee to match; H. Williams, forest green 'crepe suede and ecru lace; L. Flower, dahlia red crepe, soie; W. L. Barkman, Burgundy red marocain; W. Stanley, floral crepe de chine; W. A. Turkington, Naples blue mariette; D. R. Abernethy, black lace; E. A. Pickering, black lace and crepe suede; C. G. Cutter, Lido j blue afgalaine; N. Banks, black chiffon velvet; W. Avery, Burgundy red crepe suede; J. R. Robertson, ember gold silk net, black velvet and white i fox fur coatee; Horron, flowered ! blue georgette; W. D. L. MacDonald, flame and brown crepe suede, coatee ' to match; K. E. Buchanan, flowered : black georgette; H. Buchanan, dahlia red ninon; Alquist, black soupple satin and black satin coatee embossed in violet; G. H. Hawes, Venetian blue satin and bridge coat to tone; W. Halligan, dahlia red crepe majestic; A. M. Swinbourn, flowered black georgette; B. Barnes, brown and tangerine ensemble; T. Cotter, seafoam green crepe soie; J. Malligan, floral brown georgette; S. ' Ellery, red and black printed crepe suede; Misses M.. Pedersen, sunset georgette and coatee to tone; I. Coulter, Burgundy red chenille embossed georgette; A. Banks, Naples blue afgalaine.
