Wedding Bells.

RYRIE—WHITE. The marriage took place on Tuesday of Agnes Jean Luoson, younger uaugnter of Mr. ana Mrs. J. M. White, of Waiiaroa, ana Alexanaer George, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Ryrie, of Te Kauwhata. The Rev. A. <J. Hampton officiated, and Mrs. nampton played tne wedding music. St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Matamata, where the ceremony was held, was artistically decorated for the occasion, a large wedding bell made of .heather being the chief feature of the scheme. The bride, who entered with her father, wore a becoming frock of magnolia silk mai;ocain, with siimtitting bodice and fully-flared skirt, which was inset with godets of lace. Long puffed sleeves were finished with deep, tight-fitting cuffs of lace. Her embroidered tulle veil, forming a train, was arranged at the head in Juliet cap style witn sprays of orange blossom. A shower bouquet of white spring flowers was carried. The bridesmaids were Miss Alison White, cousin of the bride, and Miss Edna Keam, of Tauranga. They wore similar frocks of delphinium blue crepe de chine made in period style with frills at the hemline and short puff sleeves. Turbans and capes of sapphire blue velvet, muffs of frilled blue crepe de chine trimmed with pink sprays, and blue mittens were also worn. A dainty flower girl was Heather Scott, niece of the bride, wearing a period frock of old gold shot taffeta and a bo-peep hat of gold flowers and lace. A muff of lace and tulle to match the frock was carried by the small attendants.

Mr. John Ryrie, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr. James White, the bride’s brother, was groomsman.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Kensington, where Mrs. White received about 60 guests. A frock of black angel skin lace with white georgette and ermine cravat and hat to match were worn by the bride’s mother, who carried a posy of violets. Later, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Ryrie left on their honeymoon, to be spent in Rotorua and Tauranga. The bride travelled in a chicory brown ensemble, the frock being of silk marocain, the coat of diagonal cloth and the turban of corded velvet. Their future home will be at Te Kauwhata. The marriage took place at the Church of Holy Angels, Matamata, on Wednesday, of Sylvia Irene, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Ayers, of Waharoa, and William Noel, elder son of Mrs. J. H. Johnstone and the late Mr. Johnstone, of Wardville. Rev. Father D. V. Silk officiated at the church, which was suitably decorated for the occasion. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a graceful gown of white taffeta and silk lace. The skirt was of taffeta and the bodice and sleeves, which were puffed to elbow length and from there to the wrists close-fitting, were of lace. A pretty embroidered silk-net veil was arranged at the head with a capette of lace with a fan-shaped frill of tulle caught with a spray of orange blossom across the back. Her sheaf was of arum lilies and soft fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Iris Ayers, sister of the bride, and Miss Eva Johnstone, sister of the bridegroom. They were similarly attired in ankle-length frocks of chartreuse green chiffon velvet, featuring short puff sleeves. Their becoming picture hats of soleil felt with bows of velvet matched the frocks, while the pretty toilettes were completed by posies of pink and cream flowers. Little Betty Stanford, niece of the bride, was a very dainty flower girl in a long-frilled taffeta frock of the palest pink shade. A bandeau of pink ribbon was worn as headdress and a gilded basket of flowers was carried. Messrs. J. Carroll and R. Johnstone were best man and groomsman respectively. After the ceremony the reception was held at “ The Rialto,” where the tables were decorated in green and pink shades. Mrs. Ayers, who was hostess to 100 guests, wore a smart dress of Burgundy red crinkle crepe with felt turban to match and a stone-marten fur. She carried a posy of autumn-shaded flowers. Mrs. Johnstone, mother of the bridegroom, carried pretty violets, daphne and anemones. Her frock was of claret crinkle crepe and she wore a black fur coat and felt hat.

Following the reception, Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Johnstone left on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a phantom crepe frock, a bonocle cloth coat, felt hat with eye-veil, and shoes all matching in hunter green shade. She also carried a handbag in the same colour.

A pretty wedding of interest to Waikato people was solemnised in St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Hamilton, recently, when Miss Jessie May Griffin, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Griffin, of Newstead, Hamilton, was married to Mr. Henry Alfred Bowers, third son of Mrs. and the late Mr. H. A. Bowers, of Haig street, Morrinsville. The -church was decorated by friends of the bride. The Rev. J. Dennis officiated.

The bride, who entered the church with her father to the strains of the Wedding March, was attired in a pretty ankle-length frock of ivory satin and silk lace. Her beautiful silk tulle veil was caught at the head with a coronet of orange blossom, and it formed a long flowing train. She carried a bouquet of white roses, pale pink lupins and maidenhair fern.

The bridesmaids were Miss Myrtle Griffin, sister of the bride, Miss Peggy Ryan, of Hamua, Wairarapa, niece of the bride, and Miss Tilly Thrush, of Hawera. Miss Griffin wore a dress of pink crepe de chine and silk lace over pink satin with a tulle head band. Her bouquet was of white jonquils and stocks and maidenhair fern. Miss Ryan was in pale pink crepe de chine. Miss Thrush wore pale blue crepe de chine. The flower girl was Miss Joyce Griffin, of Auckland, cousin of the bride, and was dressed in lemon organdie, made in Early Victorian style. She carried a basket of goldcoloured flowers. Mr. M. Miles, of Auckland, was best man. The groomsmen were Messrs. H. Lister and C. H. Nott. ' - -After ■ the Wedding about guests were received by the bride’s mother, who was wearing a frock of navy blue satin beaute and fawn trimming with hat to match. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy costume with hat to match. The reception was held in the Newstead Hall, which had been beautifully decorated by girl friends of the bride with coloured streamers and a large white wedding bell, which hung over the bridal couple. An interesting fact was that the flower which decked the three-tiered wedding cake was the orginal flower which ornamented the wedding cake of the bride’s grandmother G 8 years ago, and also served fr* the silver, golden and diamond wedding of the grandparents., Mrs. T. In the evening a dance was held in honour of the bride and bridegroom, and about 200 friends gathered to express good wishes to the young couple, who received many presents. ■ The newly-married couple left by car for the honeymoon.
