MATAMATA TOWN BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Matamata Town Board was attended on Monday by the following members: Messrs. W. A, Gordon (chairman), W. M. Griffiths, C. C. Vincent, A. E. Wrigley, Y. B. Forbes and G. G. Bell. An apology for absence was received from Mr. J. Pohlen. Inspector Resigns. Mr. G. L. Lilly, inspector, wrote forwarding his resignation from the staff, and asking that he be relieved from duty as from Saturday next. The cleik reported that Mr. Lilly’s annual leave was due and he was entitled to two weeks.

On the motion of Messrs. Griffiths and Vincent, the resignation was accepted as from Saturday fortnight. Waharoa Road East Drain.

The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. wrote agreeing to contribute the sum of £l2 on behalf of Dalgety and Co. and themselves towards the construction of a stormwater drain in Waharoa road east.—Received. Beautifying Society.

Mr. Forbes was appointed as the board’s representative on the executive of the Beautifying Society in place of Mr. A. Young.

Work Necessary. Reporting on the visit of inspection, the chairman said that it had been agreed that formation work be done from the railway gates towards Bedford Park crossing and on the footpath from Darby’s corner to Ben Roberts’ shop. Tamihana and Meura streets required kerbing to enable these roads to be brought up to level, but he was doubtful whether the board would have sufficient funds to do this work.
