Kereone.

Arbor Day Ceremony. A small but impressive Arbor Day ceremony was held at the Kereone school on Wednesday. The 60 children of the school assembled for the planting of two trees, one of which was a liquid-amber donated by Mr. and Mrs. J. J. B. Reid, and the other a horse-chestnut towards the cost of which the children had contributed their pennies. Mr. Reid planted the first tree, and Mr. B. Harnett (chairman of the committee) planted the other. So that the children would realise that they had helped in the ceremony they marched past and in turn assisted to tramp the earth

round the roots. The ceremony was arranged by the head-teacher, Mr. L. J. Nobbs, who s is displaying much interest in beautifying the school grounds. After the trees were planted Mr. R. Mclntyre, a member of the committee, addressed the children on the importance of Arbor Day.
