Hall Meeting.
i The monthly meeting was attended J by Messrs. W. P. Ryan (chairman), G. T. Newsome, D. R. Gunn, J. S. Dickey p. Lasenby and ( ,;W. parley (jsecretary). Apologies., for absence were received from Messrs. W. E. Ayers and R. L. Scott. Tenders, for renewing the spouting around the hall were considered, and the work was let to Mr. J. Hawes, of Matamata. It was decided to make a donation of £1 to the R.S.A. Relief Fund (Waharoa committee). Some discussion took place on the hall charges, the general agreement being that these were not in accord with the times. It was agreed that the charges be revised at the next meeting. Accounts totalling .£lB were passed for payment.
Card Evening. A card evening, taking the form of a 500 tournament, was held by the Cycling Club in the Y.M.C.A. Hall. The winners were Mr. J. Keeley and Mrs. J. Dolman and the consolation prizes went to Mrs. H. Salter and Mr. D. Salter. Basketball. A challenge basketball match between the local girls’ team and a team from the football club was played on Monday afternoon '• and created much interest. The girls proved the more skilful players, but the superior height of the men told and they eventually ran out winners by 7 goals to 5. Cycle Race. The winners of the last road race were: J. Philps (5 min) 1; H. Lewis, (5 min), 2; E. Wilson (7 min), 3; E. C. Moore (scratch), 4 and fastest time). The time was 1 hour 31 minutes and 2 seconds.
