WATER SYSTEM.
PROPOSED EXTENSION. Report to be Made. The suggested extension of the Matamata water supply system to Waharoa and surrounding districts, which Mr. I. Black, a member of the Town Board, has been advocating for some time, advanced another stage last week, when it was decided to appoint Mr. Stanley Jones, of Auckland, in conjunction with Messrs. Vivian and Carr, of Matamata, to report on the suggestion. The report is to be a comprehensive one, embracing the cost of ex'tending the system to Waharoa and adjacent districts, with reticulation, capacity of the present water-mains, the adequacy of the supply at the present intake with regard to all seasons of the year, and the increased area, and also whether the balance of water remaining will be sufficient to supply Matamata when there is double the existing population. No time was stipulated for the completion of the report, but it is understood that the engineers commenced work to-day, and that their decisions will be made available with as little delay as possible.
