“EAT MORE MEAT”
j CAMPAIGN IEN ENGLAND. ( The meat trade, writes the London correspondent of the Pastoral Review, is thought to be contemplating the raising of a new fund for the purposeof national advertising, in an “Eat | More Meat” campaign. A levy of id , per stone of eight pounds, on producers j ot importers and on butchers is talked j about. Such a levy on an annual con--1 sumption for Great Britain of 1,921,000 tons of meat would yield more than £1,120,000. Such a levy would be about one-half of one per cent. c)n the selling price of best English beef, .8 on Argentine chilled and 1.25 on frozen beef. An expenditure'* of £50,000 annually has been mentioned, but there are those who think that twice this amount would not serve so good a purpose as a decision of meat retailers,
to alter tho style of their shops, anl run retail meat stores, more on tl lines of American display retail meJ marketing. |
