The next work for the Matamata County Council’s bitumen gang will be spraying a second coat on the Richmond Downs or 447 main highway and respraying number 19 main highway near Waharoa and Matamata. The thirty-one boys who arrived from England some time ago, and who have been in residence at the Williams Home (Salvation Army), Waotu road, have completed their period of farm training. They left for various parts of the North Island on Tuesday. The Matamata county crushing plant at Omahine, is now closed down. During the season 4800 yards of metal and shingle were taken out of the stream. Some 2555 yards of crushed blue metal and chippings were supplied from this source to Messrs. Bray and Company, Ltd., road contractors. The foreman of the Matamata Town Board reported at" Monday’s meeting that he had laid two test strips on the penetration system in i Peria road.
