WET AND MUD WORK HAVOC.
KEEP THE UNDER BODY CLEAN.
With the present wet and muddy state of many roads the under body of a car needs attention far more often than in summer. Speeding over wet and muddy roads, mud is driven up with force and penetrates" every imaginable nook and crevice of the underwork, causing rust of important mechanical parts and a general inefficiency tending to rapid wear of the car in small details which must sooner or later lead to expensive repairs. A great deal of neglect takes place in regard to the underneath portion of the car. Mud and water are allowed to collect and accumulate, and no great care is taken to remove the accumulated layer which with each new encounter of wet soaks and causes rust and decay of the parts covered. Iri some cases this rust causes considerable difficulty when making adjustments. Thus we have the threaded adjustments of brake and other rods rusted up. In some cases the camshafts of the brakes get so rusted in their bearings 'as to become operative only with the greatest difficulty. When once these parts have become freed from mud they should be worked free and dried and then liberally treated with kerosene, squirted on to the threads and nuts and into every available and getatable nook and corner.
