HIGH-GRADE MANURES.
DETRIMENTAL TO ANNUAL CROPS. " For topdressing you want highgrade superphosphate," contended a Tatuanui farmer recently, when he also remarked that for annual crops specially-prepared manure was the best. High-grade manures, he said, would kill annual crops, which would germinate but would not mature. He quoted an instance when seeds were sown with 44/46 high-grade superphosphate and also with special manure. The former was burnt off with the manure but the latter came on well.
