CRICKET.
MATAMATA V CORDON. The Gordon Club avenged its defeat on the previous Saturday by Matamata in no uncertain manner on Saturday last at Gordon, when the two teams again met, winning by an innings and 33 runs. The top score of the match was made by Kemp, for Matamata, with 19 not out. This player carried his bat right through the innings. The highest score for Gordon was made by D. Montague, with 18, C. A meeting of delegate* of the Gordon, Waharoa and Matamata clubs was held on Monday evening, those present being: Messrs. G. L. Mahon, W. T. Darby, J. and D. Montague, Whittington and F. Pitts, to form an association.
:Thc proposal was well discussed, and it was stated that Matamata would probably raise two teams. It was unanimously decided that the Association be formed. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Sir Win. Merries; president, Mr. J. Price; a number of vice-presi-dents were elected; secretary, Mr. G. L. Mahon; committee, two delegates from each team. The affiliation fee was fixed at £1 Is per team, and it was decided to restrict the matches to one day. The first round is to commence on December 18th, the draw being:—At Waharoa, Matamata No. 2 v. Waharoa; at Matamata, Matamata No. 1 v. Gordon. New members will have to reside one week in a district, and be registered at least live days before a match,
