The death occurred at Dunedin on Tuesday last of Mr David Miller, elder son of the late Mr and Mrs J Miller, formerly of Branch Creek, Oardrona, and Mount Barker. Deceased, who was 71 years of age, was unmarried, and is survived by three sisters—Missi Miller and Mrs Janet Kane, Hawea Flat. The internment took place at Hawea on Thursday. The engagement is announced between John Gourley, elder son of Mr and Mrs W. S. Eeid, “Willowbonk,” Arrowtown, and Jeunesse MacAdam, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs J G. Macpherson, Arrowtown.

His relatives in Arrowtown have received word that Lieut. R. E. Romans, who is -with the Second echelon in England, has been promoted to the rank of captain.
